Observation Without Compromise
The Kite APC Stabilized 50 ED is the most capable binocular in the APC lineup. It brings together a high-quality ED optical system and the latest generation of Kite image stabilization, designed for those who refuse to compromise on either optics or stability. Whether birdwatching, watching wildlife at sea or observing in demanding conditions – this binocular sets a new benchmark.
KDGS-2 and KT 3.0 – The Next Generation
In 2024, Kite Optics introduced the second generation of its gimbal stabilization system: the KDGS-2, paired with the KT 3.0 processor. Compared to its predecessor, both precision and response speed have been significantly improved. The stabilization angle of 2° far exceeds what other manufacturers offer in this category.
The result is a level of image steadiness that fundamentally changes the observation experience: the sense of looking through an optical instrument fades into the background, leaving only the subject itself.
ED Optics for Maximum Image Quality
The APC 50 ED uses Extra-low Dispersion (ED) lenses to minimize chromatic aberration. Color fringing at high-contrast edges – a common issue at high magnifications – is effectively suppressed. Kite Optics’ MHR Advance+ coating delivers a light transmission of 86%, ensuring a bright, natural and high-contrast image even in poor lighting conditions.
Five Models for Different Needs
The APC Stabilized 50 ED is available in five versions, differing in magnification and power supply.
The AA versions (14×50, 18×50, 22×50) run on two standard AA batteries for up to 38 hours of use. Batteries are available worldwide and easy to swap in the field, making these versions ideal for extended expeditions.
The Li-Ion versions (14×50, 18×50) feature a built-in lithium-ion battery charged via USB-C, with a runtime of up to 30 hours. Slightly lighter in weight, these models suit anyone who prefers a rechargeable solution without handling loose batteries.
Across all versions, the APC power-saving mode automatically puts the binocular into standby when not in use and reactivates it without any button press. With average use, a single charge or set of batteries lasts an entire observation season.
Built to Withstand Anything
The APC 50 ED is waterproof to IPX 7 and can withstand brief submersion to one metre. The electronics are fully sealed and the optical system nitrogen-filled to prevent internal fogging during temperature changes. Operating temperature range is −20°C to +55°C for AA versions and −20°C to +45°C for Li-Ion versions.
A tripod mount (1/4″) allows the binocular to be used on a tripod for extended observation sessions requiring maximum stability. Close focus distance is 5.5 metres; interpupillary distance adjusts from 57 to 76 mm.
What’s in the Box
Every APC Stabilized 50 ED comes with a neoprene neck strap, a carry bag with strap, eyepiece and objective lens caps, and a hand strap. Li-Ion versions additionally include a USB-C charging cable.
