The SP 85 HD is the flagship of the Kite spotting scope range – an instrument for those who refuse to compromise on image quality. The generous 85 mm objective lens gathers plenty of light even in difficult conditions, delivering images that impress with their brightness, sharpness and level of detail – whether at dawn, under overcast skies or late in the evening.
Optics without compromise
The combination of ED glass and KITE MHR coating produces an image that is completely free of chromatic aberration while maintaining high light transmission. Colours appear natural and true to life, and edges remain sharp and clean even at high magnification. The result is an observation experience that has to be seen to be believed.
Flexible magnification, precise focusing
The included wide-angle zoom eyepiece covers a magnification range of 30× to 60×. At 30×, a generous field of view of 34 metres at 1,000 metres makes it easy to locate and track even moving subjects. At 60×, even the finest details can be pulled in with confidence: distant feeding waders, ducks sitting far out on the water, or small features at great range. The quick-focus system allows smooth, stepless focusing from close range to infinity with a single hand movement.
Thoughtful down to the last detail
The tripod base is standardised for the Manfrotto quick-release plate 200PL-14, allowing the SP 85 HD to be mounted directly onto Manfrotto heads without any additional adapter. A small detail that makes a big difference when speed matters in the field.
Built for extended use
The housing is waterproof to IPX7 and gas-filled, keeping the optics fog-free and operational in rain, mist or rapid temperature changes. The operating range runs from −20°C to +55°C, making the SP 85 HD equally suited to winter coastal birding and tropical expeditions. KITE backs its optics with a 30-year warranty.
