Image Stabilization at a New Level

The Kite APC Stabilized 42 is no ordinary binocular. It combines maximum magnification, compact dimensions and an image stabilization system that goes far beyond what has previously been possible in this class of optics. Whether birdwatching, out at sea or from a swaying observation tower – this binocular delivers a remarkably steady, sharp image even under demanding conditions.

Stabilization That Truly Delivers

APC stands for “Angle Power Control” – and the name says it all. The stabilization angle of 2° compensates not only for normal hand tremor, but also for stronger vibrations: the rolling of a boat, the movement of a vehicle, or the sway of an observation tower in the wind. This is made possible by the newly developed KDGS-1 gimbal system, combined with the KT 2.0 processor, which uses second-generation accelerometers to control image stabilization in real time with exceptional precision.

The result: a steady, fluid image even at 16x magnification – a combination that very few hand-held binoculars have reliably achieved until now.

Two Models, One Concept

The APC Stabilized 42 is available in two versions, each suited to different observation priorities.

The 12×42 offers a field of view of 67 metres at 1,000 metres, making it ideal for quickly locating subjects while still capturing fine detail. At 720 grams (without battery), it is barely heavier than a conventional 42 mm binocular.

The 16×42 is aimed at those seeking maximum detail at long range. A 16x magnification combined with a 42 mm objective is an exceptional pairing – one that would normally be unusable without a tripod. Thanks to APC stabilization, it works effortlessly in the hand.

Long Battery Life, Smart Power Management

Two standard AA batteries provide up to 60 hours of use. A second battery compartment holds spare batteries, bringing total runtime to up to 120 hours. Using lithium AA batteries, a full season of observation is easily covered without needing to change them.

The automatic shut-off is particularly convenient: when the binocular hangs vertically around your neck, stabilization switches off automatically. Raise it to observation position and it activates again – no button required. After 90 minutes of continuous use, the system also shuts down automatically to preserve battery life.

Robust, Waterproof, All-Weather Ready

The Kite APC Stabilized 42 is waterproof to IPX 7 – it withstands brief submersion to a depth of one metre. Nitrogen filling prevents internal fogging when temperatures change. Operating range is −20°C to +55°C. Optional silicone protective covers are available, providing additional protection and allowing the attachment of lens guards.

A close focus distance of four metres and a generously sized focusing wheel – nearly four centimetres long – make the binocular comfortable to use even at short range.
